Tasty Tuesday

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I hope you all are enjoying your holidays! It's nice to get some nice things, enjoy family and friends, and best of all eat some food! Then a week later we get to do it again :)

Here are some great ideas for leftovers. When the holiday season arrives food is key. There is so much a lot of it goes to waste. If you have leftovers from the Christmas weekend, let me help you find ways to use it up!

Leftover Fish

  • It's not just tuna that can be mixed with mayonnaise and made into a salad. Do it with any fish. Salmon salad is nice with sweet pickle relish in it.
  • Put it on a salad.
  • Salmon is good in egg dishes, such as quiche.
  • Mix coconut milk and Asian curry paste (such as Thai) as a sauce for the fish.

Leftover Chili

  • Make a chili cheese omelet.
  • Put over hamburger for a chili burger or dog.
  • Put over spaghetti squash or low-carb pasta.
  • Add a few different spices to give it a new taste.

Leftover Veggies

Vegetables can be thrown into almost anything:
  • Soups
  • Casseroles
  • Quiches
  • Frittatas
  • Mix into scrambled eggs.
  • Stir-fries or other skillet meals
Turkey

  • Mix it into a salad, spice it up by adding some herbs and spices
  • Use it as a pizza topping, accompanied by barbeque or marinara sauce and cheese
  • Quesadillas
  • Pot Pies
  • Sandwiches
  • Soup
  • Pasta Dishes
Ham
  • Quiche
  • Ham Stuffed Manicotti
  • Cheesy Ham Pasta
Cheesy Ham Pasta Recipe: A unique recipe that my not be tempting at first, but once eaten is sure to impress. Enjoy!!

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Yield: 6-8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cups chopped ham
  • 1 (17-ounce) bottle double cheddar sauce (Ragu)
  • 1/2 (15-ounce) jar nacho cheese dip
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 (16-ounce) package fettuccine pasta

Preparation:

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Meanwhile, in large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir 3 minutes. Add bell pepper and ham; cook and stir 4-5 minutes longer until tender. Add pasta to water and stir. Then add sauce, cheese dip, and milk to mixture in skillet. I use the milk to rinse out the bottles of sauce so you get it all out. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to low, and simmer while the pasta cooks.
When pasta is done, drain and place on serving plate. Spoon sauce over and serve immediately.

Winter Wedding Wednesday

Hello Everyone!

I hope that you are all keeping warm today. It's been a gloomy day, but we are about to make it shine!

It's time to kick your feet up and enjoy some wedding fun!

Most girls think about what their wedding will be like, even before the road to it begins. However when the planning begins, things do change. Suddenly your diving into a whole lot more than you thought you were. The Complete Wedding Planner and Organizer by Alex A. Lluch, will be your heaven sent. This will help you to store and refer to all the ideas, colors, advice, and information that will be thrown your way. Check it out here.

For those brides who like crafts and handmade items, Etsy, is an AMAZING place to find everything you could possibly need! From favors to accessories, Etsy is a great place to look.

A great place to find your local or outside vendors is the Wedding Channel. It's a website form the creators of The Knot. It has tons of useful information! What I personally love about this website is that it features real weddings. When you register, you are able to view real wedding, advice, and suggested vendors. Ready for the good stuff?! You can feature YOUR wedding! Share it with other soon to be brides and give props to the great companies that helped create your special day.

As I noted before, The Knot is a great magazine for those brides who like to be more hands on. This way it allows you to mark the pages you like, make notes where you want, and have it with you 24/7!

These few things are great for ideas an inspirations, but feel free to get creative yourself! Local businesses are not only a great way to show support for small businesses, but allow more personalization to be shown!!

Tasty Tuesday

Good Afternoon,

I hope that you are all having a Good Day! I still can't believe that Thanksgiving is only 2 days away! For all of you that will soon be celebrating turkey day or just like to snack, I have listed a few yummy recipes. They are fast and easy to make or take! Enjoy!

Be sure to leave your comments if you try these!
PUMPKIN DIP RECIPE:

Ingredients
  • 8 ounces softened cream cheese
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 cups pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • Graham Crackers, for serving
  • Shortbread Cookies, for serving
Directions
1.  Place the cream cheese in a large bowl and stir with a rubber spatula just until the cream cheese is soft and smooth. Add the brown sugar and pumpkin puree.
2.  Blend the mixture together with a hand mixer or blender. Mix until creamy and smooth.
3.  Add vanilla extract, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. Stir with a rubber spatula until smooth.
4.  Place the pumpkin dip in a bowl and chill it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
5.  Serve the dip with Graham Crackers or Shortbread Sandies Cookies. If you want to make sandwich cookies with the pumpkin dip, spread a heaping teaspoon of dip on the inside of one Sandies cookie. Place another cookie on top and gently press the cookies together.

HERB BREADSTICKS:
Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound (orange-size piece) prepared dough
  • Olive oil for brushing
  • 1 tablespoon finely grated Parmesan
  • Coarse salt
  • Fresh or dried rosemary, thyme, or Italian herb mix

Instructions
  1. Heat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or generously grease it with olive oil.
  2. Cloak the dough to help it hold its shape while it rises: dust it with flour, then quickly shape it into a ball by stretching the surface and tucking it under the bottom, then rotating it a quarter-turn as you work. Roll it out into an 8- by 12-inch rectangle. Brush it generously with olive oil, sprinkle on the cheese, and scatter on salt and herbs to taste. Use a pizza cutter, as shown, or a sharp knife to slice the dough along its shorter side into 1/4-inch-wide strips.
  3. Stretch the strips into 12-inch lengths and lay them on the prepared cookie sheet spaced one inch apart. You can make zigzag or swirled breadsticks by shaping them on the cookie sheet.
  4. Bake the breadsticks on the oven's center rack until they're golden brown, about 12 minutes. Let them cool completely before serving.

Winter Wedding Wednesday

I don't enjoy snow so much, although it is pretty, winter does have it's perks. With the Fall winds and the Winter snow comes the holiday celebrations! Of course one of the best celebrations a family has are weddings. All your family and friends come to share that intimate day with you when you decide to share the rest of your life with that one special person.

Love is in the air!
Winter is a great season to have a wedding! So for those brides out there that have decided to celebrate your special day this winter, here are the trends that we are seeing.

Themes are huge this year! Although it's not a new trend, it is becoming more and more popular. Here is a snowfalke themed wedding:

A beautiful new trend in wedding dresses are illusion necklines. They are gorgeous! Victorian style is making it's way back as well. These two go perfectly with winter weddings. They give you more coverage and warmth that can come in handy with outdoor ceremonies and pictures. I think the illusion neckline and long sleeve victorian styled dresses give a romantic and royal feel to the dress. And as all brides know the wedding revolves around the dress!!

More DIY decorations are popping up at weddings. I personally love to see this! It allows the crafty couple to showcase their personality! It works wonderfully with themes and also helps to save some money. Paper flowers and lanterns are a great addition to any event!

Dessert Tables: We see brides adding more dessert to the tables in additional to the wedding cakes or replacing the cake altogether. Dessert tables are a "sweet" way to add fun and more color to your wedding!

I L.O.V.E the glass jars on dessert tables! The flowers shown here add a whimisical feel. The glass jars are a great way to hold candy too.

Don't forget that Good Day Catering can provide full event coordintation. We are more than happy to supply all things needed to help make your event perfect!

-Linen
-Banners
-Tables
-Chairs
-China
-Glassware
-Decorations
... and more!

Designer Liners:

Liners are the fashion statement to a cupcake. They are a great way to add decoration to your cupcakes without a whole lot of effort or money!

Themes:
Themes set the mood to the party. You can do a lot with this idea. Themes can be used in the liners or in the actual decorating on the cupcakes. You can use toppers, sprinkles, etc. to suite your theme!
